Yeah... I find that first panel's easier to take in if you imagine it as the most disturbing spoken word poetry performance piece ever.
Maybe DC can take advantage of the Civil War delay and get some of those Marvel junkies hooked on Uncle Sam & the Freedom Fighters. I'd love to see DC try some kind of parody on the "whose side are you on"-crappy-mostly-black cover thing. to sell that title.

Good lord, that first panel had me so shaken me no type good. I didn't know EC did an adaptation of Trainspotting.
(Seriously, what's that from? I only have some of the EC reprints from the early 90's, horror and sci-fi.)

Googum: That would be from "The Monkey", SHOCK SUSPENSTORIES #12 words by Al Feldstein, pencils and inks by Joe Orlando, and colors by Marie Severin.
The cover to that one's a classic.
