Just Sit Back and Relax

No matter how boring or poorly constructed a story might have been, the EC guys usually made up for it in those last few panels. I thought I'd kick off what's sure to be at least a week's long worth of EC related posts with one of my favorite endings ever. Bad pun included.

Coolest Thing Ever! ShSS #6

That was one of the first EC horror stories I ever read and it really FREAKED ME OUT.

To be honest, I have the same reaction looking at that panel now.

Nice to see that some things don't change with age/

It almost looks like was chewing some gum and just popped a really big bubble.

At least that's what I'll tell myself to keep from having nightmares.

**shudder**

Whenever I see an EC comic end with such a horrible pun, the narrator in my head always slips into the Crypt Keeper voice.

"YES! Commander Horace Bergman had finally GONE SOFT! EEE HEE HEE HEE HEE!"

It is pretty hard not to imagine that voice.

Though, I like to imagine The Count from Sesame Street as the narrator. It's not as scary that way.

That the "THE END" is in a blood goosh just makes it all the better.

Comic books nowadays could do with few more blood gooshes.
